Jean-Pierre Martinez is a contemporary French author and playwright who writes television scripts and stage plays. With an average of 350 stage productions every year, he is one of the most successful European playwrights.
A prolific writer, Martinez has written 75 comedies known for their accessibility and unique universe, populated with characters that are simultanously laughable, moving and deeply relatable. His plays typically focus on the tragi-comedy of everyday situations such as unemployment, awkward diner parties, visits from in-laws, funerals or hospital emergency rooms.
Having supported his work in Europe for several years, our goal is now to make his plays more widely known and produced in English-speaking countries.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jean-Pierre Martinez is a French playwright and scriptwriter born in 1955 in Auvers-sur-Oise (France). He got his first taste of stage performance as a drummer in various rock bands, but decided to purse a career as a semiologist in the field of advertising. In 1994 he started writing television scripts and returned to the stage as a playwright in 2002 with his first comedy Café des Sports (not yet available in English).
Today, he is among the most played contemporary playwright in France with over 350 stage productions by theater groups all over the world, and many of his plays have been translated in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Taking on an innovative approach to distribution, the scripts of all his plays free to download (PDF), and can be purchased in book format (print or digital).
